Salt
Salt our adopted Whale

Salt was the very first Whale to be photographed in the Gulf of Maine. She is the mother to 10 calves.
Salt was first identified in 1975 and has become one of the most distinctive and photographed humpback whales in the world. Salt was given her name because of her unusually white dorsal fin, which looks as though someone has poured salt over it. Salt became a grandmother for the first time in 1992 when Thalassa gave birth to her first calf, Skeeter. Since then, Thalassa has had two further calves.
